When the family of four went to Kempinski for dinner, Wendell Jones was sulking at home. He noticed the push from Emgrand Group and felt increasingly despondent.
Initially, he believed Claire wouldn’t stand a chance at securing a contract with Emgrand Group, yet she managed to land a 60 million deal in just one morning. Reflecting on the harsh words he’d thrown at her yesterday, he realized this was nothing short of a slap in the face.
Harold also called to voice his frustrations, immediately stating, “Wendell, you’re being so cruel! I’ve been trying to create opportunities for you to pursue my cousin, yet you’ve assisted her in securing a partnership with Emgrand Group. Aren’t you embarrassing me?”
Wendell Jones felt utterly innocent. What was going on? He hadn’t done anything to help Claire!
At that moment, Harold pressed further, “Wendell, tell me the truth, did you sleep with my cousin?”
Wendell Jones felt too embarrassed to deny it. To insist he had nothing to do with it would be tantamount to admitting his own inadequacy.
So he replied, “Yes, I’m sorry, Harold. I’ll make it up to you whenever I get the chance.”
“I knew it!” Harold sighed, then quickly asked, “Wendell, my cousin should still be a virgin, right? It seems that she’s never been with that jerk. You really hit the jackpot this time!”
Wendell Jones felt a wave of delight wash over him.
Wonderful! Claire is still a virgin!
He considered announcing publicly that she had been with him, hoping to create tension between her and her husband.
With this thought, he smiled and said to Harold, “Harold, your cousin is still a virgin, it’s really enjoyable to be with her, hahaha!”
Harold replied bitterly, “Then you can’t forget to share the benefits with me in the future, Wendell!”
“Don’t worry!” Wendell Jones replied eagerly.
After hanging up with Harold, Wendell Jones’s father suddenly called again.
As soon as the call connected, he blurted out, “Wendell, something urgent has happened! The Emgransd Group has halted all our collaborations! Have you upset anyone recently?”
Hearing this, Wendell Jones’s heart sank like a stone.
The Emgrand Group had ceased all collaboration with the Jones family? This could result in devastating losses for their family!
He exclaimed, “What’s going on, Dad? I haven’t offended anyone recently! Have you?”
Wendell Jones’s father responded angrily, “Neither have I! I’ve been at the office and haven’t offended anyone…”
Wendell Jones said anxiously, “Oh, Dad, do you think the new chairman of Emgrand Group is planning to overhaul the current arrangements?”
“It’s very possible!” Wendell Jones’s father realized suddenly, “Now that the new chairman has taken over, I haven’t had the chance to meet him. I mentioned it to Doris Young several times, but she always said their chairman isn’t seeing guests.”
Wendell Jones asked, “What should we do then?”
His father thought for a moment and suggested, “Oh, by the way, the Wilson family is hosting a banquet tomorrow night. It’s said that the chairman of the Emgrand Group has been invited. We should go and try to meet him!”
“Alright!” Wendell Jones replied at once, “Let’s go together tomorrow!”

The next day, excitement filled the Wilson family as they prepared for the most significant event.
After a night of buzz, the news that the Wilson family secured a contract with the Emgrand Group and invited its chairman to the family banquet spread throughout Aurous Hill!
Charlie put on his finest suit for the banquet and arrived at the hotel where it was being held.
As soon as Charlie stepped out of the car at the hotel entrance, a Porsche suddenly screeched to a halt in front of him.
Immediately, Wendell Jones emerged from the car, dressed in an expensive suit and styled meticulously.
Soon, a receptionist approached Wendell Jones with great enthusiasm.
Wendell Jones noticed Charlie and looked him up and down with a hint of disdain. He smirked, “Where did you get that cheap suit? You look ridiculous.”
Charlie responded calmly, “What does that concern you?”
Wendell Jones’s lips curled into a sarcastic smile as he said, “You may not be of interest to me, but your wife has recently become quite relevant…”
Charlie’s frown deepened as he asked, “What do you mean by that?”
People around them couldn’t help but stop and listen.
Since the previous night, gossip had been circulating in the social circle.
It was rumored that Claire was able to secure the partnership with Emgrand Group because she had ‘offered herself’ to Wendell Jones. Otherwise, given her capabilities and the strength of the Wilson family, how could she manage such a feat?
Now, it seemed there was some truth to the matter.
Seeing the attention gathered around him, Wendell Jones said to Charlie, “Why do you think Claire managed to land the partnership with Emgrand Group?”
Charlie, looking directly at Wendell Jones, inquired coldly, “Why?”
Wendell Jones smirked and replied, “Simply because of me. Claire is now my woman, and I made every effort to help her secure the partnership with Emgrand. If you have any sense, you should divorce her immediately, it would be for the best.”
Even though those present had harbored their suspicions, hearing Wendell Jones state it plainly left everyone startled.
Claire had actually obtained the Emgrand Group agreement by being with Wendell Jones!
“Because of you?” Charlie retorted, laughter escaping him instead of anger. “You think you deserve that?”
