One million three hundred thousand turned into two million in an instant, leaving Elaine both overjoyed and slightly incredulous.

With a look of astonishment, she asked Axel, “Is this two million really for me?”

Axel nodded eagerly, assuring her, “Absolutely, it’s all yours!”

“Oh, that’s wonderful!” Elaine exclaimed, her excitement palpable.

Seeing Elaine receive two million an additional 700,000 in principal the other elderly men and women were ecstatic. They assumed that since Elaine’s money was returned, theirs would be returned with interest as well, right?

Several of them stepped forward and inquired, “Mr. Axel, what about our money?”

Mr. Axel quickly glanced at Don Albert.

Although Don Albert was reluctant to relinquish the money he had acquired, he was frightened of angering the Young Master of the Wade family and possibly facing dire consequences, so he reluctantly declared, “Refund! All refunds! For Mr. Wade’s sake, everyone’s money will be returned with interest!”

The crowd erupted in cheers of joy.

Suddenly, Charlie interjected coldly, “Don Albert, these people are unrelated to me. What do you mean by doing this for my sake? Are you trying to use emotional manipulation here?”

Don Albert was taken aback and asked, “Mr. Wade, what do you mean? I’m confused and don’t understand…”

Charlie replied, “These people’s money has nothing to do with me. If you wish to refund it, then do so, if not, then don’t. But if you dare to say you’re doing it for my sake, don’t hold me responsible for turning against you!”

These elderly folks had just mocked me alongside Elaine. Why should I help them recoup their debts now?

In fact, I would not only refrain from helping them but I would also make sure Don Albert understood that returning their money would be offensive to me!

Don Albert quickly comprehended and exclaimed, “Don’t worry, Mr. Wade, I understand!”

He then turned to Axel, stating, “Only Mr. Wade’s mother-in-law’s money will be refunded and no one else’s!”

“Huh?” The elderly individuals, who had just been jubilant, suddenly became frantic, with some bursting into tears.

Others pleaded with Charlie for mercy, but he remained unmoved.

A group of disrespectful old people ridiculed and insulted me why should I help them now?

Now that they realized they could sway Don Albert, they expected my help?

Seeing the elders growing agitated, Don Albert shouted, “Be quiet! Whoever utters another word that disturbs Mr. Wade, I will take care of!”

The elderly folks kept silent…

Don Albert then turned to a bewildered Kevin and asked, “Mr. Wade, is this Kevin White your friend?”

Charlie glanced at Kevin, who was pleading, “Charlie, please! Tell Don Albert that we are good friends! I beg you!”

Charlie scoffed icily, telling Don Albert, “I don’t know him. You keep your word and let him go after you’ve had your fun with him.”

Don Albert instantly understood and ordered his men, “Just keep beating that worthless punk! I get irritated just looking at him!”

Kevin screamed in fear, “Charlie! I didn’t mean it! Please help me, I’m begging you…”

Charlie looked at him coldly and said, “I have no ties or grudges with you, but you have mocked me repeatedly and now you ask for my help? Wake up and stop dreaming!”

In despair, Kevin started to sob, “Charlie, I truly see my mistakes now, please help me…”

Noticing Charlie’s stern expression, Don Albert bellowed to his men, “Are you all just going to stand there? Get to it! Are you looking for trouble?”

The men quickly seized Kevin by the neck and hair, slapping him violently.

Before long, Kevin’s mouth was bloodied and several of his teeth were shattered, yet they didn’t relent every strike was forceful!

Don Albert turned to Charlie with a grin, “Mr. Wade, are you satisfied with how we’re handling this?”

Charlie nodded, “That’s enough, I need to leave now.”

Don Albert hastily handed his business card to Charlie with respect, saying, “Mr. Wade, here’s my contact information. If you need anything in the future, just let me know. I will always be there for you.”

Charlie acknowledged with a hum and pocketed the card.

Turning to his mother-in-law Elaine, he remarked, “Mom, it’s getting late, let’s head back!”

Despite having been slapped a few times, Elaine was thrilled to have received an additional 700,000 dollars, her smile unwavering. Seeing the pride on Charlie’s face made her feel immensely proud of her son-in-law!

As Charlie held the money and prepared to depart with Elaine, the group of elderly individuals surrounded him, saying, “Oh, Charlie, I was wrong earlier. I never imagined you were this capable, you are truly talented for someone so young!”

“Yes, Charlie, you are handsome and gifted, like a dragon among men. My son-in-law pales in comparison to you.”

“Please, can you talk to Mr. Axel for us to get our money back? That’s all our hard-earned cash!”

Charlie frowned, responding coldly, “Why should I help you? Weren’t you all just so arrogant? If you can’t retrieve your money, perhaps you should ask your own son-in-law for assistance!”

With that, he walked away.

Everyone felt a wave of regret.

It’s entirely my fault. Why did I unjustly blame Charlie? Now… my chance to reclaim my hard-earned money is completely gone…

Realizing this, some people slapped themselves in frustration, while others sank to the ground in despair, crying out in sorrow. This was their retirement savings! If lost, everything would be over!

Yet, they had no other options. If they needed to place blame, it could only be directed at themselves for their unkindness and for not having a son-in-law like Charlie.

On the way home, Elaine beamed at Charlie and asked, “Charlie, how do you know Don Albert? Why is he so respectful toward you?”

Charlie chuckled, “How could I know someone like him? I only called a classmate who has the ability to persuade Axel to return the money.”

Elaine’s face fell at this revelation. She had hoped Charlie possessed some incredible skills she was unaware of, but it turned out he still had to rely on others for help.

So, the excitement in her heart quickly faded.

Nevertheless, she was glad to have recovered her money and added an extra 700,000 dollars, which improved her perception of Charlie.

She told him, “Charlie, please keep today’s events a secret from everyone. Even though I’m older, I still have my dignity, right?”

Charlie smiled with a hint of helplessness and agreed, “I understand, Mom.”
