The Amazing Son In Law Chapter 58
“Of course! Just let me know!”
Uncle Quilt sneered, remarking, “I want to see how you charlatans typically deceive people.”
Charlie shrugged and replied, “I didn’t intend to expose your scam, but you kept pressing me. I couldn’t just turn you down.”
“Scam? Are you implying we’ve all been misled?”
Matthew Gibson, usually composed, suddenly let out a sneer.
Charlie gave him a glance and retorted, “You’re the biggest fool here…”
“Kid, you’re asking for trouble!” Matthew Gibson shouted, furious.
Charlie ignored him and stated, “The jade is genuine. You deceivers should have some conscience. However, this jade is not the blood-thread jade of the Zhou Dynasty, nor has it ever been kept by a high-ranking monk. It’s merely a piece of top-grade yellow jade from Hotan. Its quality is decent and it holds some value, but the market price is only about 500,000 at most.”
“That’s nonsense! Can’t you see the red color of the jade?” Uncle Quilt cursed.
Charlie replied, “The red hue comes from the corrosion of manganese ore containing submanganate. Do you really think it’s been soaked in a monk’s blood?”
“What about the warm sensation we’re experiencing?” Graham asked anxiously, his brow furrowed.
Charlie shook his head. “That has even less technical value. A powder made from the roots of African grass is dissolved in water. If you soak this piece of jade in that water for about six months, it will naturally develop that effect. It’s not a warm sensation at all, but rather a hallucinogenic effect. Removing it is straightforward just burn the jade.”
“Kid! How dare you speak such arrogant words!” The fat man slapped the table, standing up.
Travis Lane’s expression soured. He glared at the fat man, saying, “You’re suggesting we burn the jade for a bit?”
The fat man, drenched in sweat, stammered, “What do you mean by burning it? He’s clearly pretending to be a fraud. Don’t buy into his nonsense!”
Graham tapped his fingers on the table and said, “If we burn it and the effect remains, I will pay for it. But if the effect disappears, you know the consequences… Even though our Quinton family is facing some challenges lately, we can’t allow anyone to trample on our dignity!”
Jasmine nodded in agreement, adding, “If Mr. Wade is mistaken, it won’t matter if we burn it the jade won’t sustain damage. But if he is correct, you must provide us with an explanation today!”
The fat man was now in a panic. None of these three families were ones he could afford to offend.
The setup was meant to deceive Jasmine out of a substantial amount of money, with Uncle Quilt being his accomplice, after which they would split the profits.
To his surprise, Charlie appeared out of nowhere, unraveling the entire scheme in one sentence!
In truth, Charlie had no prior knowledge of jade. His ability to instantly identify the flaws in this jade stemmed solely from the “Apocalyptic Book.”
Remarkably, just upon seeing the jade, all the answers had materialized in his mind. It seemed that identifying antique jade was a skill he possessed thanks to the “Apocalyptic Book.”
As the fat man remained silent, Charlie sneered, “What’s the matter? Are you feeling guilty? Too afraid to speak?”
The fat man’s face drained of color, but he still refused to clarify whether he was willing to take it further.
Charlie, now angered, stated, “Do you think silence will save you? This is Aurous Hill! Everyone here you’ve deceived is wealthy and influential. With a snap of my fingers, I could ensure you have no place to rest in Aurous Hill! I suggest you be sensible and confess the truth, or no one will be able to save you!”
Jasmine recognized Charlie’s psychological tactic and quickly supported him, saying firmly, “Our Moore family also holds significant stature in Aurous Hill. Anyone daring to con the Moore family will face our wrath. If we let this slide, it would tarnish our family’s reputation!”
The fat man was terrified! He understood the immense status of the Moore family if he angered Jasmine, he could very well face dire consequences in Aurous Hill!
In his panic, he desperately cried out to Uncle Quilt, “Quilt, save me! This is more than just my problem!”
Uncle Quilt’s expression shifted dramatically as he bellowed, “What nonsense are you spouting? You deceived our Moore family and are framing me. I’ll take your life!”
With that, he pulled a dagger from his pocket, a cold gleam in his eyes as he lunged at the fat man.
The fat man, red with fury, shouted, “How dare you turn on me! You told me the Moore family’s appraisal should come from your mouth! As long as you said it was okay, it would definitely sell. You’re the one who has put me in this mess!”
Jasmine shot a cold glance at the two before turning to Charlie, saying, “Mr. Wade, I apologize. Thanks to you today, let’s leave at once. Our family will handle these matters.”
Charlie nodded slightly, replying, “Alright, let’s head back.”
They stood up and prepared to leave.
Seeing Jasmine about to exit, Uncle Quilt was alarmed. He immediately disregarded the notion of silencing the fat man and knelt, pleading, “Miss, please spare my life. For all my years of dedication to the Moore family, please let me off this time…”
Before Jasmine could respond, Travis Lane stood up, sneering, “You old fool are truly seeking your end. You plotted to deceive me and your own master, aiming for two or three hundred million. Do you think the Moore family will spare you?”
Uncle Quilt’s face turned ashen as he crumpled to the ground.
Travis Lane added, “Even if the Moore family spares you, I, Travis Lane, will never show you mercy!”
Uncle Quilt erupted into sobs, utterly defeated.
Seeing this, Jasmine shook her head slightly and said to Charlie, “I’m sorry, Mr. Wade. My Moore family made a mistake. You’ve helped expose this.”
Charlie responded calmly, “There are treacherous individuals everywhere, Miss Moore there’s no need to apologize.”
At that moment, Travis Lane from Lancaster, along with Matthew Gibson and Graham from Aurous Hill’s Quinton family, stepped out.
Upon spotting Charlie, Travis Lane approached, clasping his fists in thanks, “Master Wade, I appreciate your help today otherwise, I would have fallen prey to this deceiver!”
Matthew Gibson, feeling some shame, similarly spoke up, “Master Wade truly is a young hero. I couldn’t even see through their trickery with the jade earlier I am embarrassed!”
Graham also bowed, saying, “Mr. Wade, thanks to you, otherwise the three of us would have been quarreling over a fake. We would have incurred significant losses and been the subject of ridicule!”
Charlie smiled lightly and said, “No need for formalities, everyone. I came at Miss Moore’s invitation to authenticate the items, so this was part of my responsibility.”
After exchanging a few more pleasantries, Charlie got into the car with Jasmine.
Behind them, the yard fell silent.
Yet Charlie noticed that once they departed, several men in black suits hurriedly entered. It seemed Uncle Quilt and the fat man were doomed!
