The Amazing Son In Law Chapter 79
Harold launched his attack swiftly, but Charlie easily evaded it.
In a quick motion, Charlie backhanded Harold’s wrist, giving it a gentle shake as he sneered, “What’s the matter? Is the injury on your hand fully healed? Have you forgotten the pain that lingers even after the scar has formed?”
Suddenly, Harold was struck by a powerful force, causing him to stumble back a couple of steps, filled with a mix of anger and surprise.
This kid has quite a bit of strength!
Realizing he was no match for Charlie, Harold coldly spat, “You loser, just wait. I’ll have the manager kick you out right now!”
With that, Harold turned to shout at the manager standing nearby.
Before long, a middle-aged man in a suit and dress shoes hurried over, flanked by two security guards.
The man grinned widely at Harold, saying, “Mr. Wilson, how can I assist you?”
“Manager, please check their invitation cards.” Harold pointed disdainfully at Charlie. “I suspect their invitations are fraudulent.”
To maintain the privacy of the guests, the invitations were not personalized with names, they only contained a string of passwords. Entering that password into a mobile app would reveal the names of the invitees.
Seeing that Harold was dressed lavishly, the manager recognized him as part of a respectable family. In contrast, Charlie’s ordinary attire led the manager to smirk at him, saying, “If you could kindly show me your invitation letter, I’ll verify it.”
Although he maintained a polite tone, the manager’s eyes were laced with disdain, as Charlie’s appearance didn’t suggest he belonged among distinguished guests at the Treasure Pavilion.
Charlie noticed the contempt in the manager’s gaze, and a surge of anger rose within him as he coldly replied, “What if I refuse?”
The manager cleared his throat, his expression hardening as he pressed on, “Then may I ask which family in Aurous Hill City you belong to?”
Before Charlie could respond, Harold interjected, “He’s from our Wilson family no, actually, he’s just a son-in-law of the Wilson family. To be honest, he doesn’t even deserve to be called a member. He’s simply our pet!”
The mention of “son-in-law” gave the manager quite a bit to think about. How could anyone of stature in Aurous Hill City be reduced to a son-in-law?
The manager’s expression soured as he demanded, “So tell me, how did you gain entry?”
Frankly fed up with their scrutiny, Charlie felt disappointed with the way Treasure Pavilion categorized its guests. He replied curtly, “I just walked in.”
Recognizing Charlie’s low status, the manager ceased his inquiries and said coldly, “If you don’t comply and show me the invitation letter for verification, I’m afraid I’ll have to ask you to leave.”
With that, he waved his hand and two security guards moved in, surrounding Charlie with threatening glares.
Jacob, witnessing this unfold, started to feel anxious.
Worried that their invitation might be faulty, he quickly urged Charlie, “Charlie, I think we should just let this go and head back.”
Surprised, Charlie frowned and asked, “Dad, don’t you want to see the auction?”
Jacob shook his head resolutely. “No, this isn’t the place for us. If we get thrown out, it’ll be utterly humiliating…”
Seeing his father-in-law had made up his mind, Charlie bit his tongue and nodded, following Jacob out.
After all, it was just an auction, and he didn’t really care about it. Since his father-in-law didn’t want to remain, there was no point in entangling himself with these people.
As for Jasmine, if she asked, he would simply say that he feared he couldn’t hold his own in the Moore family’s presence!
With that, he turned and left with Jacob.
Behind them, Harold erupted in laughter, “Hahaha, two losers, are you scared? Feeling guilty, are you? Sneaking into the Moore family’s auction, what a death wish!”
Charlie ignored him as he exited.
At that moment, the crowd suddenly erupted in commotion.
They parted to form a pathway as a man and woman entered the venue.
The woman, dressed in a black evening gown, possessed a stunning beauty and a graceful figure.
Under the bright lights, she looked magnificent and dignified, even her mannerisms radiated elegance.
Harold was momentarily dumbstruck by her beauty.
As Jasmine Moore entered, her eyes scanned the area, and upon noticing the two vacant seats in the front VIP section, she inquired, “Haven’t the two VIP guests I invited arrived yet?”
Finn Baxendale glanced at the guest list, furrowing his brow. “Miss Moore, our records indicate that these two guests invitations have been verified, so they must be at the auction. Beyond that, I’m not sure where they could be.”
He then instructed a nearby assistant, “Go and fetch the manager.”
Moments later, the manager arrived and asked, “Mr. Baxendale, how may I assist you?”
Finn Baxendale gestured toward the empty seats in the VIP area and asked, “Two guests invitations have been verified, why aren’t they in their seats?”
“Two guests?” The manager suddenly recalled the elderly man and the young man he had just expelled.
Could it be…
No, it shouldn’t be…
Why would verified VIPs refuse to let him check their invitations?
Is this going to end badly?
Noticing the manager’s panicked demeanor, Finn glanced at the security guard beside him and said, “You tell me what happened.”
The security guard, unwilling to withhold information, relayed the events that had just transpired.
After hearing the account, Jasmine frowned and exchanged a glance with Finn. “Baxendale, I’ll go find Mr. Wade first. You handle this situation and I hope you can resolve it satisfactorily.”
Finn Baxendale nodded vigorously, watching Jasmine leave with a grim expression as he turned his ire toward the manager. “Are you tired of living? How dare you offend guests personally invited by Miss Moore?”
The manager’s legs buckled and he knelt before them, pointing a trembling finger at Harold as he pleaded, “Master, I didn’t mean to! It was this jerk’s doing!”
Baxendale reacted by delivering a hard kick to the manager’s face, sending him sprawling to the ground, as he cursed, “If you continue to look down on others, then get out of here immediately! Don’t ever let me see you again! Moreover, for every loss caused today, you will compensate according to your employment contract. If it’s insufficient, I promise you’ll pay dearly!”
“Mr. Baxendale… have mercy…” The manager was terrified. The losses were substantial. If he truly had to compensate, he wouldn’t be able to afford it even if he sold all his assets.
“The lawyer will inform you of the compensation amount.” Finn stated coldly.
Dizzy with fear, the manager knelt and knocked his head apologetically against the ground.
Baxendale kicked him away in disgust, gesturing to the security guards and whispering, “Take him out and break his legs! Let him see nothing again!”
Having navigated the business world for years, Baxendale was no angel. Though he couldn’t visibly show his anger in front of everyone, he had no intention of letting this incident slide quietly behind the scenes!
“Mr. Baxendale, I recognize my mistakes, please forgive me…” The manager begged, shaken with fright.
Two security guards lunged forward and grabbed his arms, dragging him away.
Baxendale then turned his focus back to Harold, commanding those around him, “Bring that Harold to me!”
At this moment, Harold basked in his own arrogance. The happiness he felt at the thought of meeting the master of the Treasure Pavilion only heightened his spirits.
Everyone knew that the master of Treasure Pavilion had a powerful background. If he could earn favor and gain proximity to him, a world of opportunities would open up!
Standing before Finn Baxendale, Harold began to flatter him, “Hey, Mr. Baxendale, it’s an honor to finally meet you! I’ve long heard of your great reputation. Meeting you today, it’s clear you truly are a rare talent and your renown is well-deserved!”
Baxendale gritted his teeth and kicked Harold away forcefully, baring his teeth in a snarl, “You’re audacious, Harold! You dare to offend guests who were invited by Miss Moore? I think you truly are asking to endanger your own life!”
