The Amazing Son In Law Chapter 81
When the two returned home, they discovered that the two women in the house were absent.
Mother-in-law Elaine was still out playing mahjong at the game room and Claire was not yet finished with her work.
Charlie decided to head to the bedroom first, taking the thunder-struck wood out of its box.
A strong aura radiated from the thunder-struck wood.
Charlie sat cross-legged on the floor, placed the wood in his palm, closed his eyes slightly, and began to channel the “Apocalyptic Book” mental method, gradually absorbing the energy into his body.
Upon opening his eyes, a bright light shone within them and he felt a significant change in his presence.
The blood dragon thunder-struck wood in his hand appeared somewhat dimmer.
Yet, despite losing some of its energy, it still maintained a solid and righteous thunder aura, making it a valuable item.
With the support of other treasures, he could now use it to refine some basic magical tools.
He emerged from his room in the evening.
As soon as he entered the living room, Charlie heard his mother-in-law scoff, saying, “You’ve become so arrogant that you can’t even cook for yourself. Are you just going to wait for me to serve you?”
Charlie forced a smile and replied, “I’m sorry, Mom. I was really tired this afternoon and fell asleep.”
“Oh, did you get tired from going to the auction? Or were you exhausted from misleading Harold?” Elaine retorted unhappily.
Charlie was momentarily taken aback, then shook his head and said, “I didn’t mislead Harold. Where did you hear that from…?”
Elaine huffed and replied, “Of course, the Lady called me to tell you. It’s one thing for you to be embarrassed, but you also got Harold kicked out. The Lady was furious and scolded me! Can’t you keep your energy to yourself and cause less trouble for the family?”
Claire interjected, “Mom, I think Harold was kicked out because he caused the trouble himself. It has nothing to do with Charlie. Charlie is not that kind of person.”
“How is it not related?” Elaine angrily threw down her chopsticks. “Harold came back saying he is not that type of person. He complained that Charlie used underhanded methods to obtain the invitation letter, which angered the Treasure Pavilion when discovered, causing him to be expelled. The Pavilion Master even stated that the Wilson family would be banned from the Pavilion in the future and if they attempted to enter, their legs would be broken! The Wilson family has lost face this time!”
Jacob chimed in, “Hmph! The invitation letter is completely innocent. I believe Harold caused the trouble himself and out of fear of punishment from his mother, he shifted the blame onto Charlie…”
“You’re still defending this loser. If you hadn’t opted out of the auction, would any of this have happened?” Elaine shot Jacob a glare and scolded.
Jacob promptly fell silent, focusing on his meal, not daring to speak further.
Elaine continued, “He’s a coward, how could he possibly get an invitation letter? Now he’s offended Harold. I can only wonder how this will end for him…”
Before she could finish, there was a knock at the door, followed by a voice asking softly, “Excuse me, is Mr. Wade home?”
Elaine’s face tensed, glaring at Charlie with anger. “Oh no, it must be the Lady come to demand an explanation. Just look at what you’ve done!”
“Let’s wait and see.” Claire said solemnly, standing up and walking toward the door.
The living room fell silent as Elaine and Jacob stood nervously, contemplating their response.
Charlie’s expression darkened slightly. If the Lady came knocking to seek retribution, he wouldn’t have to give her face!
Claire cautiously opened the door a crack and asked warily, “What do you want?”
Frowning, Charlie stepped beside her, pulling Claire behind him in silence and then coldly addressed the visitors, “Are you looking for me?”
A middle-aged man in a smart suit smiled respectfully upon seeing him, “You must be Mr. Wade, correct? I am the new manager of the Treasure Pavilion, having started this afternoon. The Pavilion Master feels deeply regretful about your departure this morning and has instructed me to bring gifts to apologize.”
Charlie looked at the group in surprise. “Are you from the Treasure Pavilion?”
“Treasure Pavilion?” Claire echoed from behind.
The man quickly added, “Our Pavilion Master was overwhelmed with guilt over Mr. Wade’s departure and immediately expelled Harold for causing the disturbance. The auction has been halted. The Treasure Pavilion failed to manage the situation properly and we hope Mr. Wade can forgive us and not hold a grudge.”
After speaking, the middle-aged man gestured to a few strong men in black who promptly placed gifts at the door.
Charlie glanced over and noted the considerable number of gifts!
There was a box of limited edition “Yellow Crane Tower” liquor and a box of limited edition 30-year-old Maotai Feitian spirits!
Additionally, there were a pair of antique vases from the Ming Dynasty and a set of tortoiseshell Go pieces!
The value of these gifts exceeded one million!
“Mr. Wade, this was an error on the part of the Treasure Pavilion. Our owner is currently preparing for a new auction with Miss Moore and cannot be here in person, so he has sent me to apologize on his behalf. He intends to extend his apologies to you personally when the opportunity arises. Please accept our sincerest apologies!”
The middle-aged man bowed deeply in front of Charlie.
Charlie nodded and replied, “Alright, you can set the items down.”
The man then produced two golden invitations from his pocket, presenting them to Charlie with respect. “This is an invitation to the upcoming auction. We sincerely hope you will attend along with Mr. Wilson. I promise you won’t be disappointed this time. Please give us a chance to make amends!”
He further explained, “Additionally, here is a special Treasure Pavilion Royal VIP card. We’ve only issued ten of these cards, which are valid for life. You’ll enjoy the highest level of service whenever you visit the Treasure Pavilion!”
Charlie glanced at the VIP card, noticing it was golden, adorned with gold foil and diamonds. He replied calmly, “I’m not particularly interested in the auction. Perhaps you should discuss it with my father.”
“Understood.” The middle-aged man quickly presented the card to Jacob, offering an apologetic smile. “Mr. Wilson, I sincerely apologize for today’s events. Please do attend the event the day after tomorrow.”
“This…” Jacob was finally coming out of his shock, eyeing the VIP card and swallowing hard. He recognized it as a limited-edition VIP card from the Treasure Pavilion, reserved for high-status members and not available to the general public!
Those in possession of the VIP card could freely enter and exit the Treasure Pavilion, enjoy optimal service and receive substantial discounts on purchases.
Jacob found it hard to refuse such an enticing offer.
Just as he was about to take the cards shamelessly, Elaine’s hand shot out from the side, snatching both VIP cards away.
Charlie’s mother-in-law Elaine beamed with delight as she gripped the two VIP cards tightly, her face lit up with happiness. “Since you’ve come to apologize, I will graciously accept these gifts and VIP cards. My husband will definitely go to the auction the day after tomorrow!”
