The Amazing Son In Law Chapter 71
Loreen covered her legs and noticed blood seeping from her fingers, confirming that Charlie had spoken the truth.
However, she felt uncomfortable about taking off her pants in front of a stranger.
Faced with a life-or-death situation, Loreen hesitated for what felt like an eternity before finally yielding. She feared for her life and dreaded becoming disabled.
Her face flushed with embarrassment as she glanced at Charlie, her heart racing and a sense of unease washed over her entirely.
Finally, she murmured, “I understand. Thank you.”
Charlie nodded, crouched down, gripped her pants firmly and tore them apart.
Loreen gasped for breath as her cheeks burned with heat. Her heart raced and she averted her gaze, unable to look at Charlie.
Charlie remained calm, focusing on the knife wound on her left leg. He aligned his index and middle fingers and applied pressure to the acupuncture points.
A stream of energy flowed from his fingers into the wound.
His gaze remained fixed on the injury, ignoring everything else. He worked quickly and after several precise taps, the bleeding gradually ceased.
According to the medical techniques detailed in the Apocalyptic Book, Charlie could have completely healed Loreen, repairing her tendons and veins and even closing the wound instantly, but he chose not to overwhelm her with such abilities.
Instead, he used his fingers like needles to stop the bleeding and halted once her tendons stabilized. The remaining flesh wounds would only require bandaging at the hospital, allowing her to heal naturally afterward.
Loreen’s heart raced as she felt the pain lessen and the bleeding stop after Charlie’s gentle touches. She was utterly amazed.
To think that the traditional Chinese medicine her family dismissed as ineffective was far superior to Western medicine!
“Alright,” Charlie said calmly, standing up without glancing at her and said “Now you can try to stand.”
Loreen attempted to rise and to her astonishment, the bleeding had indeed stopped. Her joy and surprise mingled.
With a flushed face, she shyly said, “Since you prefer not to reveal your name, at least allow me to thank you properly?”
“There’s no need.” Charlie replied curtly, wanting to keep his identity hidden.
“You saved my life. If I can’t even express my gratitude, I would feel ashamed for the rest of my life.”
Loreen insisted, then removed a necklace from around her neck. “This is a gift from my grandfather for my coming-of-age ceremony. Since you saved my life, I want you to have it.”
She held out a platinum chain with a sparkling pink diamond set in the pendant.
Charlie contemplated refusing but sensed a faint energy radiating from the pink diamond. Changing his mind, he accepted it.
He nodded, removed his coat and wrapped it around her waist. “I’m sorry for tearing your pants. You can use my coat to cover yourself. I called the nearby hospital’s emergency number, an ambulance will arrive in a few minutes. You’re safe now, but I have to leave.”
With that, Charlie turned and walked away without looking back, vanishing into the dense sorghum field.
“Hey, wait a minute…” Loreen called out, but Charlie had already disappeared from sight.
Just then, the distant sound of an ambulance echoed through the park. She looked down at the coat enveloping her lower body and then in the direction Charlie had gone, feeling a profound sense of loss.
In an instant, she recognized the familiarity of his departing figure.
Loreen thought for a moment and suddenly remembered that this silhouette was identical to the chairman! Could he be the chairman of Emgrand Group? A spark ignited in her heart.
Yet she hadn’t asked his name, nor had she seen his face. Was her guess even correct?
At that moment, Loreen spotted a grayish-white pebble lying where Charlie had just crouched, with the words “peace and wealth” inscribed on it.
He must have dropped this by accident.
Feeling as though she had stumbled upon a treasure, she clutched the stone tightly.
If she never saw him again, this stone would serve as the only keepsake he left behind.
Once Loreen was taken to the hospital by ambulance, doctors diagnosed her with minor injuries.
The physician who treated her was unaware of Charlie’s earlier intervention and was amazed by her condition.
Given the knife wound on her leg, he had expected at least some severe tendon damage, but her skin wounds were superficial, with her tendons intact and seemingly reinforced.
The doctor remarked, “Your injury should heal completely after a few days of rest. To be honest, this is remarkable. Did you receive any special treatment?”
While Loreen’s thoughts wandered to the mysterious man, she replied, “I didn’t do anything special.”
The doctor was impressed. “That’s incredible!”
He continued, “By the way, I have notified the police. They will arrive shortly and you can tell them about your attack at that time.”
Loreen nodded in acknowledgment.
The police arrived quickly, taking the situation seriously since someone had been stabbed in a downtown area, especially as the victim was a senior executive of Emgrand Group.
Among the officers, some were familiar with the Wilson family and recognized that she was a guest there, prompting them to inform the family.
Meanwhile, the Wilson family villa was strategizing their response.
Harold informed them that Loreen was in trouble but withheld the part he played in the incident. Lady Wilson viewed this as a prime opportunity for the family to shine. They had to find Loreen, rescue her and help Harold win her heart through this dramatic act.
As the news broke that she was in the hospital, Lady Wilson expressed her disappointment, sighing, “It would have been ideal if Harold could use this chance to be the hero who saves the girl!”
Immediately, she declared, “Let’s head to the hospital!”
Harold felt nervous but reluctantly followed his family to the hospital.
During the trip, Harold formulated a story, uncertain if Loreen would believe him.
When they arrived at the hospital and he saw Loreen, his face filled with surprise as he rushed over, “Loreen, are you okay? I was just about to call my dad and mobilize a rescue!”
“Rescue me?” Loreen’s expression turned cold, tinged with sarcasm as she replied softly, “You nearly got me killed!”
Harold quickly defended himself, “Loreen, don’t misunderstand. I was trying to draw their attention since they were looking for me, not you. I thought they wouldn’t harm you.”
Loreen scoffed dismissively and had lost all desire to argue with him, having seen through his facade completely. She only wanted to distance herself from him.
Noticing her indifference, Harold assumed she accepted his explanation. He scanned her, seeing that she was wrapped in a man’s coat, and frowned, “Loreen, where are your pants? Did they do anything to you?”
Loreen felt disgust wash over her and coldly replied, “That’s none of your business!”
Lady Wilson, keenly observant, turned to Loreen and asked, “Loreen, if you have anything to share, you can confide in your grandma. Those people didn’t harm you in any way, right?”
With a deadpan expression, Loreen replied, “They stabbed me, but thankfully, a young man passing by saved me. He treated my leg injury and when my pants were ruined, he offered me his coat. What’s the problem?”
“Young man?” Lady Wilson was visibly startled.
A young man saved Loreen; this was troubling! What if she developed feelings for him, leaving her precious grandson Harold with no chance?
At that moment, Harold interjected in jealousy, “Loreen, how did he treat you? Did he remove your pants to help you?”
Loreen sneered sarcastically, “What does it have to do with you?”
