The Amazing Son In Law Chapter 28

After resolving his mother-in-law’s issues, she happily took the cash and headed to the bank to make a deposit.

Charlie went straight home.

As soon as he entered the house, he noticed that Claire had changed her shoes at the door, indicating she was back, so he headed directly to the bedroom.

Upon entering the bedroom, he saw his wife Claire had just hung up the phone, her face lighting up with surprise and excitement.

Curiously, he asked, “Wife, who were you just talking to?”

Claire replied with enthusiasm, “It was my good friend Loreen! Do you remember her?”

“I do,” Charlie nodded, recalling their college days in Aurous Hill and the close bond he shared with Claire and her friend, who he believed was from a prominent family in Eastcliff. “Isn’t she the daughter of Thomas family?”

“Yes,” Claire confirmed. “Loreen’s family is quite influential in Eastcliff.”

Charlie smiled and inquired, “What’s the occasion? Is she coming to Aurous Hill to visit you?”

Claire said, “Not only is she coming to see me, but she’s also coming to work in Aurous Hill!”

Charlie frowned in confusion. “Why would the daughter of a prominent family choose to work in Aurous Hill instead of managing her family’s business?”

Claire replied, “I’m not sure. She mentioned she would work at Emgrand Group, but I don’t know why she’d come so far for that.”

Charlie nodded, contemplating the situation. Although the Thomas family was not as powerful as the Wade family, they were still quite influential in Eastcliff. It seemed strange for Loreen to abandon her family’s business for a position at Emgrand Group.

What could her reason be for taking this job?

Charlie was puzzled but knew he couldn’t determine anything just yet. It appeared he would have to wait until Loreen started at Emgrand Group and then ask Doris to evaluate her.

At that moment, Claire seemed to remember something and slapped her forehead. “Oh, by the way, Charlie, I have a meeting with Emgrand Group tomorrow and won’t be able to make it. Could you pick up Loreen at the airport and arrange a welcome for her?”

Charlie agreed, saying, “I’ll take care of it first thing tomorrow.”

Claire added, “And make sure to choose a nice place, don’t be shy about spending money. Use my bank card.”

As she handed him her wallet, Charlie quickly responded, “No need! I know someone who owns a restaurant that’s quite good, I can take care of it.”

He then took out his phone to send a text to Isaac Cameron at Shangri-La, asking him to arrange a banquet for him.

But after a moment’s thought, he realized that Shangri-La should remain a surprise for Claire, so he decided to look for another venue to welcome Loreen.

He sent a message to Don Albert instead.

“I’d like to host a banquet for some friends. Please help me arrange it at a high-end hotel, but not at Shangri-La.”

Before long, Don Albert replied, “Mr. Wade, don’t worry. I have a place called Heaven Springs, which is a top-tier restaurant in Aurous Hill, even better than Shangri-La. Tomorrow, I’ll ensure to book the best diamond box and banquet for you, waiting for your arrival.”

Charlie simply responded with a “Ok.”

The next day, Claire was busy all day at Emgrand Group, handling matters related to their cooperation.

Charlie called Doris, the vice-chairman of Emgrand Group, to inquire about Loreen starting work.

Doris was surprised Charlie had knowledge of this. She explained that Loreen had applied for the position of executive director, a mid-level management role. The group’s management found her resume impressive and had decided to hire her, with plans for her to start work soon.

Charlie advised her to keep an eye on Loreen once she joined and to update him on any developments.

After securing Doris’s assistance, Charlie took a taxi in the afternoon to the airport to pick up Claire’s best friend, Loreen Thomas.

As he arrived at the airport, he was about to head to the arrival hall when a Mercedes-Benz G suddenly screeched to a stop in front of him.

Claire’s cousin, Harold, popped his head out of the window, looking at Charlie with a frown. “Charlie, what are you doing here?”

“I’m here to pick up Claire’s best friend, what about you?”

Charlie noticed that the people inside the G-Class were all familiar faces Harold, Gerald White and Wendy.

Harold sneered, “You must mean Miss Thomas, right? Don’t worry, she’s with us, we’ll take care of her. You can leave now!”

Charlie retorted coldly, “If anyone should leave, it’s you.”

Ignoring them, Charlie walked straight into the arrival hall.

Harold opened his mouth, ready to lash out at Charlie, but Wendy quickly interjected, “Brother, Miss Thomas will be arriving soon. Grandma reminded you to make a good impression on her! If you could make her my sister-in-law, your standing in the family would skyrocket. Don’t waste your time on this loser.”

Harold snapped back to reality. He had nearly forgotten the primary reason for their presence today.

Welcoming Loreen was secondary, making a lasting impression on her was of utmost importance.

The Thomas family had significant influence in Eastcliff and if he could forge a connection with her, his status and that of the Wilson family would rise considerably.

Suppressing his irritation toward Charlie, he quickly jumped out of the car and the entire group rushed toward the arrival hall.

At that moment, a strikingly beautiful young woman emerged from the crowd. She had long chestnut hair and wore a white dress that accentuated her stunning figure.

Even behind her sunglasses, her porcelain skin and fiery red lips were impossible to overlook. Her beauty rivaled that of Claire, they both had their unique allure.

Instantly, all eyes outside the terminal were drawn to her.

Harold was momentarily taken aback.

Even Gerald White, who had come just to see the commotion, was left speechless, remarking, “She’s truly the embodiment of Eastcliff elegance. Her presence is something special.”

Just then, Loreen spotted them and hurried over from the crowd. After waving, she greeted, “Harold, Wendy and Charlie, it’s been a while!”

Harold’s heart raced with excitement as he blurted out, “It’s been a long time, Loreen. You look more beautiful than ever.”

Charlie added with a smile, “Good to see you again.”

Harold quickly continued, “Loreen, knowing you were coming, I booked a private room at the best hotel in Aurous Hill to welcome you! Let’s head there now.”

Loreen glanced at Charlie and apologetically told Harold, “I’m sorry, Harold, but I’ve already made plans to meet Claire and Charlie. We can definitely hang out another time, I’ll be in Aurous Hill for a while.”

Harold’s face turned stormy at her words. On such an important day, Charlie, a worthless nobody, had come to interfere, which was infuriating.

With frustration, he announced, “Loreen, in your honor, I booked a lavish golden box at Heaven Springs, with a minimum spend of $300,000!”

He shot a contemptuous look at Charlie, scoffing, “I’d be curious to know where this brother-in-law of mine is taking you. If it’s a subpar place, it would be such a slight to you!”
