The Amazing Son In Law Chapter 26

The Amazing Son In Law Chapter 26

Elaine was paralyzed with fear, she screamed and shut her eyes, bracing herself for a slap. Surprisingly, the anticipated blow never came.

When she opened her eyes, she was both shocked and bewildered!

Her seemingly useless son-in-law, Charlie, had stepped in at that exact moment to block the impending slap!

Her mind momentarily short-circuited how could Charlie, whom she considered worthless, display such bravery?

Don Albert didn’t expect anyone to dare defend this insufferable old woman at such a critical moment. He glared and asked coldly, “Who are you? Do you want to die too?”

Charlie wore a calm smile as he responded, “You must be Don Albert, right? I suggest you restrain yourself, you can take it out on the dead dog by your side, but not on my mother-in-law!”

With a grim expression, Don Albert shot back, “This old woman is your mother-in-law? What about you? Do you think you’re important enough for me to spare you?”

As he spoke, Don Albert’s fury intensified. He was used to the respect of countless people in Aurous Hill, yet today he faced disrespect repeatedly.

First, there was Kevin, who had the audacity to shout at him, followed by an annoying old woman whining in his presence.

Now, an audacious young man was standing up to him. Did he really believe he could defy Don Albert without consequences?

Seething with anger, Don Albert shouted to those around him, “Get rid of this ignorant fool!”

In response, Charlie simply smiled and said, “Don’t worry, I’ll make a quick call and have someone speak with you.”

He then took out his phone and called Isaac Cameron, the manager of Shangri-La.

Once the call connected, Isaac answered respectfully, “Young Master, how can I assist you?”

Charlie calmly inquired, “Do you know a man named Don Albert in Aurous Hill?”

Isaac replied hastily, “Of course, Young Master. I know the Don Albert you’re referring to. People outside say he’s the underground king of Aurous Hill, but he’s just a low-level thug! This guy knows I’m affiliated with the Wade family and has tried several times to court my favor by asking me to dine with him, but I’ve ignored him completely. Why? Young Master, do you know him?”

Charlie remarked casually, “Oh, this thug is threatening me right now.”

Isaac’s reaction was immediate and intense. “What? Does Don Albert really want to die? How dare he provoke you, Young Master! Where are you? I’ll bring my men to deal with this scoundrel immediately!”

Charlie replied, “I will hand over the phone, let him talk to you.”

He then passed the phone to Don Albert and said, “Here, take this call.”

Don Albert was taken aback.

What was going on? This guy didn’t seem like he was putting on an act. Did he truly have a significant background?

He certainly didn’t look the part. His attire was so ordinary that it probably didn’t total more than five hundred dollars. Even his phone was a few hundred dollars. What clout could he possibly have to summon powerful allies?

Despite his disdain, Don Albert instinctively picked up the phone and cautiously said, “Hello, this is Don Albert. Who are you? Are you here to support this kid?”

On the other end, Isaac erupted, “Don Albert! Are you out of your mind? You dare to provoke our Young Master? Trust me, I’ll wipe out all 25 members of your family tonight!”

Realizing who was on the line, Don Albert paled, recognizing Isaac Cameron, the very person he had been trying to impress.

Had he just offended his Young Master? Could it be that this kid standing in front of him was that very Young Master?

Additionally, he mentioned 25 family members. How could he possibly know all of that?

He was the liaison for the Wade family in Aurous Hill! The Wade family possessed immense power and if they wanted him dead, it would be as easy as squashing an ant!

Panic gripped him and he begged, “Boss Cameron, please calm down. There’s been a misunderstanding. Your Young Master and I-”

“Silence!” Isaac snapped. “Our Young Master’s identity is highly confidential. If you dare to leak it, I’ll wipe out your entire family!”

Don Albert trembled violently, more than someone suffering from Parkinson’s, and urgently pleaded, “Boss Cameron, I’m truly at fault! I’ll handle this situation properly…”

Simply being addressed as “Boss Cameron” was already an honor he’d have to bend over backward to earn and the Wade family was an entity he couldn’t even fathom reaching. He would have to look up to them for the rest of his life…

Now, having unknowingly insulted the Young Master of the Wade family, he felt a wave of dread.

Don Albert’s gaze locked onto Charlie and instinctively, he softened his legs and knelt before him, saying with fear, “Mr. Wade, I apologize. I had no idea she was your mother-in-law. I was mistaken. Please forgive me!”

Then, trembling, he knelt before Charlie.

Everyone present was stunned. They were witnessing Don Albert kneeling to apologize to Charlie, a man they believed to be a failure?

Even Mr. White had to bow down to Don Albert, but this young man had made him kneel. Who exactly was he?

Don Albert’s subordinates were equally astonished!

Don Albert was the underground king of Aurous Hill! What kind of young man could put him in such a position?

Charlie had no desire to take Don Albert’s life after all, his men had assaulted his mother-in-law, not him.

Moreover, he had to admit that watching his mother-in-law getting slapped around was quite satisfying!

So he told Don Albert, “I can let you off this time, but you must return the money you swindled from my mother-in-law plus interest!”

Don Albert felt as if he had just received a reprieve. He hadn’t expected Master Wade to show him mercy. He quickly bowed, exclaiming, “Don’t worry, I’ll arrange it right away!”

He then turned sharply to Axel beside him, barking, “Get on it! If you take too long, I’ll break your legs!”

Elaine stood there completely dumbfounded. Could this really be her ineffective son-in-law? Even the notorious Don Albert was now kneeling before him?

Instantly, Elaine felt Charlie’s stature rise to an epic level in her eyes, becoming increasingly unfathomable.

Kevin, who had been the subject of humiliation, was equally stunned. Wasn’t Charlie supposed to be a well-known loser? Why was even Don Albert fearful of him?

At that moment, Axel approached with a black suitcase, his face pale. He reached Elaine and said nervously, “Auntie, your principal is 1.3 million and the dividends we promised are 200,000, so that’s a total of 1.5 million. Here’s 2 million and the extra 500,000 is our small apology. Please accept it…”

Elaine was entirely speechless! When had her useless son-in-law become so capable?

The principal was returned, the promised 200,000 dividends were honored and they even included an extra 500,000?

The Amazing Son In Law Chapter 59

The Amazing Son In Law Chapter 59

In the car, Jasmine maintained a consistently cold demeanor.

The betrayal of a family member had already stirred her anger, but what infuriated her even more was that Uncle Chi had the audacity to try and trap her in front of so many outsiders.

If she were to fall for the scheme today, pay the money, and have Uncle Quilt abscond, discovering later that she had been deceived would not only be embarrassing for her but would also bring shame to the entire Moore family!

Fortunately, Charlie was there to unveil the truth just in time, helping her avoid loss for both herself and her family.

In response, she pulled a bank card from the glove compartment, handed it to Charlie and said, “Mr. Wade, this card has one million dollars on it and the password is six 8s. Consider it a small token of appreciation, please accept it.”

As she spoke, she couldn’t help but feel a bit of regret. Charlie seemed incredibly capable and talented. She wondered why he had chosen to marry into a lesser family. If he put his skills to use in antique appraisal, he could easily accumulate a considerable fortune in just a few years.

Charlie looked at the card in her hand and hesitated.

One million was certainly a significant amount, but it was merely a drop in the bucket for the Moore family. He initially scoffed at the idea of accepting this one million since he had over 9.99 billion dollars available to him, it seemed trivial in comparison.

What was the point of accepting it?

However, upon reflection, he acknowledged that he wasn’t a trillionaire, he was the son-in-law of the Wilson family. If a son-in-law disregarded one million, it would undoubtedly raise Jasmine’s suspicions, so he took the card without hesitation and said, “Thank you, Miss Moore.”

Jasmine replied with a slight smile, “You’re very welcome, Mr. Wade.”

Afterward, Jasmine inquired, “Where are you headed next, Mr. Wade?”

Charlie smiled back, saying, “Take me to the vegetable market, I need to buy some groceries for dinner.”

Jasmine was taken aback and said, “I’ve heard about your situation, Mr. Wade. To be honest, given your capabilities, you shouldn’t be limiting yourself to being a son-in-law. How about coming to my Vintage Deluxe as the chief treasure appraiser? I can offer you a base salary of a million a year. What do you think?”

Charlie waved his hand with a laugh, “I have a penchant for simpler living and have gotten used to relying on others.”

Jasmine was momentarily surprised, then sighed. It seemed the rumors were true. This Charlie was indeed a gigolo living off his wife.

Previously, she had considered him merely a failure, which made it somewhat understandable that a failure would need to depend on someone else for a living. But now it appeared he was not just a failure, but a fallen one. This realization was difficult for her to accept.

Consequently, her attitude toward Charlie shifted slightly.

Charlie understood that she would now look down on him internally, but this was preferable for him, as it led others to misjudge him, setting him up for the ultimate victory.

After passing through the vegetable market, Charlie exited the car, bade Jasmine farewell and purchased some vegetables before returning home.

As soon as he stepped inside, Charlie heard his father-in-law laughing uproariously.

“Hahaha! Come and see the treasure I’ve unearthed!”

Claire, who had just finished work, was seated on the sofa reviewing documents. She couldn’t help but stand up, exclaiming to Jacob, “Dad, you nearly gave me a heart attack!”

“Check this out!” Jacob, completely oblivious to Claire’s reaction, excitedly showcased a pair of palm-sized celadon cups, saying, “These are the blue and white cup I bought from the antique market. I heard it was recovered from the coffin of a late Emperor and is worth over half a million dollars!”

“Half a million?” Claire gasped, suddenly standing upright. “Dad, where did you get that kind of money?”

Charlie felt utterly helpless. He had just broken the jade pot spring vase that morning, and while he was out, the old man had ventured to the antique market again? It was a classic case of healing scars only to forget the pain.

Jacob chuckled, adding a touch of mystery, “I mean it’s valued at half a million. Can you guess what I paid for it?”

Claire hesitated briefly, then cautiously suggested, “Three hundred thousand?”

“No! Try again!” Jacob waved dismissively.

“Two hundred thousand?”

“Wrong again!”

Charlie glanced at the celadon cups and immediately recognized them as fakes. He thought to himself, it would be astounding if these things were worth even a hundred dollars.

At that moment, Jacob stopped keeping the secret and laughed, “Hahaha, I got them for 300 dollars! Isn’t that incredible?”

Delight was evident on Jacob’s face as he reveled in his own discovery.

Claire blinked in disbelief, struggling to process the information. “No way, you mean this cup really only cost 300 dollars?”

Elaine, having heard the commotion from the kitchen, rushed out, looking excited. “Is this cup genuinely that valuable? It can’t be a fake, right?”

Jacob patted his chest with pride, “Don’t worry! The seller clearly didn’t know what it was worth. I even had someone verify it and they confirmed it’s the real deal!”

“Really?” Elaine carefully picked up the cup, inspected it from various angles, and beamed with happiness.

Charlie stood quietly by, merely smiling in agreement, maintaining a composed expression. He had already determined the cups were counterfeit, but seeing his father-in-law’s joy, he chose not to burst the bubble.

Jacob was ecstatic, as if he had just stolen some fish, and declared, “This cup isn’t complete yet. The seller said he’d bring the missing part tomorrow. I’ll go check it out! If I can get the complete set, the value would skyrocket! If I’m lucky, I might even pay off the 6 million dollar debt!”

Charlie frowned and promptly intervened, “Dad, don’t be greedy when it comes to antiques. Buying these two cups is enough and then…”

Jacob shot him an annoyed glance. “What more do you have to say? Are you schooling me?”

Charlie quickly replied, “No, no! As long as you’re happy with it.”

After that, he decided not to meddle any further. Regardless, even if his father-in-law ended up getting scammed, it was not his money at stake.

Claire added, “Dad, why did you buy so many? You cannot use this cups to eat or drink. Besides, the price discrepancy is huge whether they are real or fake remains to be seen.”

She couldn’t comprehend the allure of “getting rich quick.” If it were that easy to buy a treasure worth 500,000 dollars for just 300 dollars, wouldn’t everyone be wealthy?

Jacob, undeterred, responded enthusiastically, “You don’t get it! This is an antique and it takes a keen eye to spot a deal!”

As he admired the celadon cups, he turned to Claire, “Don’t worry about it. Others were after this today, so I might not be able to snag it tomorrow.”

Elaine eagerly chimed in, “If it’s genuinely that valuable, you must find a way to secure it!”

As Claire watched her parents eagerly admire the cups, she quietly tugged on Charlie’s sleeve.

“I’m not sure this is reliable. It feels like a scam. Dad will definitely go back tomorrow. You should accompany him to the antique street to prevent him from being cheated.”

Charlie nodded. He wouldn’t have bothered if Claire hadn’t said anything, but since she did, he couldn’t just stand idly by!

The Amazing Son In Law Chapter 90

The Amazing Son In Law Chapter 90

After leaving the Quinton family, Jack Yaleman immediately started to indulge in his own wishes.

He was naturally eager to take revenge on Charlie and reclaim the giant clam that Charlie had won at the auction, but that alone wasn’t enough!

This time he came to Aurous Hill with the additional goal of establishing his reputation, gathering a group of followers, and bolstering his career.

He devised a plan that he believed would accomplish both objectives.

By using Charlie as a cautionary example, he aimed to make all of Aurous Hill submit to him!

Unbeknownst to Charlie, he was being set up as a pawn in Yaleman’s scheme.

That evening, as he was preparing to buy groceries for dinner, he received a call from Jasmine.

After he picked up the phone, Jasmine spoke to Charlie in a serious tone, “Mr. Wade, Jack Yaleman has invited some masters of antiques, feng shui, and metaphysics to host a banquet at the White family residence. He asked me if you would be available to attend.”

“Zeke’s house? Which White family are you talking about?”

Jasmine clarified, “It’s a middle-class family. They have two male heirs, Gerald White and Kevin.”

“Those two? Why was their family chosen to organize the event?” Charlie asked curiously.

Jasmine explained, “The White family has been struggling recently. Their son Kevin and nephew Gerald White have encountered various difficulties, and the family’s business has taken a hit. Thus, the head of the White family turned to Jack Yaleman to change their feng shui.”

She continued, “However, I suspect that Jack Yaleman invited a group of metaphysics masters not only to earn money from the White family but also for ulterior motives.”

Charlie smiled and said casually, “I took that giant clam at the auction and insulted him, so he clearly wants to retaliate against me. I suspect this is a trap he has set for me!”

With a slight grin, Charlie added, “But I’ll attend and see what tricks he has up his sleeve.”

Seeing his agreement, Jasmine replied, “Great! The banquet is at Zeke’s house. Let’s go together tomorrow morning; I’ll drive to pick you up.”

“Sounds good.”

……

The next morning, Jasmine drove to pick up Charlie, and together they went to Zeke’s house.

The White family villa is situated on a hillside in the suburbs, surrounded by picturesque scenery.

The gardens feature pavilions and structures designed in an antique style, showcasing over 100 million dollars spent on elaborate decoration. They are typically used to host esteemed guests or entertain friends, giving it a grand appearance.

By the lakeside pavilion, dozens of yellow rosewood chairs were arranged. More than a dozen invited guests were already seated, engaging in conversation, punctuated by occasional laughter.

Occupying the main seat was a slightly overweight middle-aged man—Kevin’s father, Zeke White.

Seated beside him was Master Jack Yaleman.

Among the attendees, Charlie also recognized two familiar faces: Travis Lane, the richest man in Lancaster, and Matthew Gibson, who accompanied him.

As soon as Charlie entered, Travis Lane and the others nodded to him.

However, Zeke White shot him a disdainful glance and snorted coldly.

Clearly, he was aware that Kevin and Gerald White had suffered setbacks at the hands of Charlie, which explained his unfriendly demeanor.

Finn promptly stood up and approached, greeting, “Mr. Wade, Miss Moore, welcome.”

Charlie nodded while managing a smile, “Just here to observe the skills of the masters.”

A middle-aged man in a long gown asked in surprise, “Is this the buyer who purchased the top giant clam at auction for a staggering 100 million?”

Finn introduced, smiling, “This is Master Wade.”

“What? Master?” Zeke White scoffed at Charlie, quickly adding, “These days, the title of master has become nearly meaningless. Anyone can call themselves a master, but truly capable individuals, like Mr. Yaleman, remain humble.”

As soon as he finished, an awkward silence fell over the crowd.

Zeke White’s intention wasn’t to insult; it was simply that Charlie, given his age and demeanor, didn’t fit the traditional image of a “master.”

Most of the guests were esteemed figures in the metaphysics community, and elevating a young man like Charlie to “Master Wade” was uncomfortable for many.

Jack Yaleman stood up with a composed smile, saying, “It’s alright. I borrowed the White family’s venue for this banquet to connect with all of you. As for distinguishing between genuine masters and those seeking notoriety, time will reveal the truth.”

His words drew sneers from those present, leaving little doubt about Charlie’s motivations.

Jasmine frowned slightly. She was aware that Jack Yaleman had targeted Charlie, but she hadn’t anticipated such an oppressive atmosphere upon arrival.

Nevertheless, Charlie appeared unfazed. He took a seat, disregarding the preceding murmurs around him.

Zeke White observed that everyone had arrived and announced, “Now that we’re all here, I’d like to inform you that Mr. Yaleman borrowed the White family’s venue today for two reasons: first, to familiarize himself with everyone, and second, to engage in friendly exchanges.”

“How will these exchanges be conducted?” someone inquired.

“Naturally, it will depend on the individuals’ skills.”

Jack Yaleman stepped forward to clarify, “The rules are quite simple. As you know, the metaphysics field encompasses five branches. Participants can select the area in which they excel to challenge their opponents!”

“To formalize the event, the White family will sponsor the funds, offering a prize of 5 million for each competition. The winner will receive this amount, while the loser will receive a travel stipend of 50,000.”

This structure was reasonable, drawing nods from many in attendance.

Typically, practitioners in the metaphysics community operate independently and rarely reveal their strengths. However, gathering everyone for a competition offered a chance to assess one another while also winning substantial rewards.

“Just a friendly competition?” Charlie sneered softly, doubting that Jack Yaleman organized this banquet solely to exhibit his capabilities.

After some discussion, Zeke White continued, “However, offering a cash prize alone may not be enough to fuel everyone’s enthusiasm. Many here are wealthy and don’t necessarily need these millions.”

“To spark greater motivation, we’ve added another condition: the winner may either take the 5 million cash prize or choose something of value from the loser!”

Furthermore, he declared, “The ultimate victor will be recognized as the leading master in the metaphysical community. Henceforth, all masters in the area will regard him as the Venerable, and any local matters of metaphysics, Feng Shui, or Antique industy will require his approval!”

Once he finished speaking, an eerie silence enveloped the yard.

Moments later, it erupted into a cacophony of voices, with many attendees expressing their indignation.

“What if the challenger selects a category where the challenged party lacks expertise?”

“Isn’t the idea of a first place in the Newton University metaphysics community a claim to territory?”

“Is this a joke? The metaphysics community in Newton University has always operated independently, and now they must bow to someone else? This is absurd. Besides, are there people here who are not from Newton?”

The crowd buzzed with discontent, as no one had anticipated that this so-called banquet would turn out to be a Hongmen banquet organized by Jack Yaleman aimed at unifying the metaphysics community in Newton!

The Amazing Son In Law Chapter 78

The Amazing Son In Law Chapter 78

When Elaine learned that Charlie was given a bracelet by someone worth five or six million, her eyes sparked with excitement.

“Bracelet? Where is it? Show it to me!”

Charlie felt a rush of caution but replied, “Mom, the bracelet is in the bedroom, but I plan to return it.”

“Return it?” Elaine frowned in disbelief. “Are you out of your mind? Returning something valued at five or six million?”

Charlie explained, “I only helped him a little and he gifted me this valuable item. It doesn’t feel right to keep it.”

“What feels right or wrong?” Elaine exclaimed. “If he dares to give it to us, we should accept it! Where’s the bracelet? If you don’t want it, I’ll take it!”

Charlie recognized his mother-in-law’s ulterior motives. He had intended to give the bracelet to Claire, but hadn’t found the right moment to mention it, so he put it aside for now.

To his surprise, his father-in-law was quick to point it out. It wasn’t that Charlie was hesitant to keep a multi-million-dollar bracelet, he has nearly 10 billion in his bank account, so spending that much on a bracelet was trivial.

However, he believed his mother-in-law didn’t deserve to wear something so expensive. With her bossy demeanor and petty bourgeois tendencies, she would be more suited with a bracelet worth twenty or thirty thousand dollars.

Elaine, however, would not let this opportunity slip by. How prestigious it would be to wear a bracelet worth five or six million dollars! She pressed him repeatedly, “Where is the bracelet? Bring it out and let me see!”

Claire, sitting next to him, knew that once the bracelet was in her mother’s hands, it would never be returned. So she chimed in, “Mom, since it’s something Charlie plans to return, we should avoid taking it out. If it gets damaged, it’s going to be hard to explain.”

“Are you really going to return it?” Elaine asked, anxiously standing up. “Have you lost your mind?”

Anticipating her mother’s frustration, Claire asserted firmly, “Mom, let’s not discuss this anymore. I’ve talked it over with Charlie and that’s that.”

Elaine recognized Claire’s resolve. If Claire insisted on returning it, she knew she wouldn’t be able to stop her.

Thinking about giving up millions in gifts made her burst into tears, crying, “It’s bad enough to have an unambitious son-in-law, but my daughter and I are supposed to be on the same side! I might as well just give up!”

Claire consoled her by offering her a piece of meat, saying, “Okay, Mom, I’ll buy you a bracelet in the future.”

“You better keep your word!”

……

On auction day.

Having left his room, Charlie came to the living room early in the morning to find Jacob already waiting anxiously. As soon as he spotted Charlie, he enthusiastically called out, “Charlie, let’s hurry up. We can’t be late!”

Knowing they would attend the auction, Jacob had hardly slept the previous night and had been eagerly waiting for Charlie to emerge.

The Treasure Pavilion is a cultural and art association formed by a group of enthusiasts in Aurous Hill City, headquartered in a picturesque manor out in the suburbs.

The president of the association boasts significant influence; it is said that he is a real estate mogul in the province with a passion for culture and art. He invested a staggering 100 million dollars and gathered like-minded businesspeople to establish the “Treasure Pavilion.”

After parking their car at the entrance of Treasure Pavilion Manor, Charlie and Jacob alighted and took in their surroundings.

The serene and elegant scenery was a sight to behold, with an air of exclusivity. All the vehicles parked outside were luxury models, with the least expensive being Porsches.

In contrast, Charlie’s BMW 5 Series looked out of place, akin to a pheasant among a group of phoenixes.

Jacob exited the car and walked toward the entrance. He was brimming with excitement, as this was his first time attending an event of such high caliber. He couldn’t help but marvel at everything around him, though he still felt a little intimidated.

At the venue entrance, Jacob nervously presented the invitation letter. He was apprehensive, wondering whether the two invitations Charlie obtained were even legitimate.

However, the security guard at the door quickly verified their invitations and said with respect, “Please come in, gentlemen!”

Jacob felt a wave of relief as he stepped inside with Charlie.

As they entered the venue, Harold sauntered in, dressed sharply and exuding confidence.

Upon entering, Harold’s expression shifted to one of shock and annoyance.

Charlie and Jacob were here too!

What were these two losers, an old man and a young one doing here? The entire Wilson family had received only one invitation, which Harold possessed. Did they think they could come in?

Recalling how Charlie had previously embarrassed him, Harold approached them angrily and shouted, “Charlie, how did you get in? Do you even know where you are?”

Hearing Harold’s loud voice made Charlie frown.

Jacob, spotting Harold, smirked and said, “Hey Harold, you’re here too!”

Not only did Harold look down on Charlie, but he held the same disdain for Jacob, his second uncle. He frowned and demanded, “What are you doing here? Do you have an invitation?”

“Absolutely!” Jacob replied confidently.

Harold asked, irritation evident in his tone, “How could you two possibly get an invitation? Where did it come from?”

Charlie calmly replied, “Harold, where our invitation comes from isn’t any of your concern.”

Harold scoffed, “How could you two losers receive an invitation from the Moore family? You must have stolen it to sneak in!”

“You’re ridiculous.” Charlie dismissed him, turning away without further comment.

Harold’s anger flared at being ignored.

To him, Charlie was just a pathetic coward who had no standing in the Wilson family. He was merely a lowly individual!

The fact that Charlie could attend the Treasure Pavilion humiliated Harold further!

Why is a low-class person who lives off others standing here next to him?

With a glare, Harold pointed at Charlie and demanded, “Tell me how you two managed to get in.”

Charlie frowned and urged Jacob, “Dad, let’s ignore this fool and keep moving.”

“Stop!” Harold barked, stepping in front of them deliberately, his tone confrontational. “You think you can just walk away? You must have used underhanded tactics to gain entry! You don’t belong at an event like this! Show me your invitations!”

Charlie’s frustration grew. He had tolerated enough. He couldn’t let Harold continue to provoke him.

Coldly, he said, “You think you deserve to see my invitation? You’re not worthy! Now step aside!”

Harold’s expression darkened, fury boiling inside him. In his view, Charlie was still just a coward who dared to tell him to leave!

Grabbing Charlie’s arm, Harold sneered, “If you don’t explain yourself today, you’re not leaving here.”

The Amazing Son In Law Chapter 89

The Amazing Son In Law Chapter 89

“What, a charlatan?”

Graham was taken aback and utterly shocked.

Recently, Charlie had been the sole person tending to the Feng Shui concerns of the Quinton family.

Graham held great confidence in Charlie and quickly replied, “Master, could you be mistaken? There truly was a Master Wade who helped me resolve my issues and his methods were remarkably effective. He cannot be a charlatan.”

Mr. Yaleman scoffed and retorted, “Those who deceive are adept at fooling the ignorant. If you choose to believe him, I’ll take my leave!”

“Mr. Yaleman, please stay.” Graham, in a state of panic, urgently stopped him, “Sir, could you please explain what is wrong with his methods?”

Without looking up, Mr. Yaleman extended his hand and pointed toward the main hall. “Bring me a bowl of water.”

Graham quickly instructed someone to bring a bowl of clean water.

Mr. Yaleman took the water, chanted a few incantations over it and then splashed it onto Graham’s eyelids.

As soon as Graham opened his eyes, terror flooded him and he recoiled.

“What is this… what have you shown me…”

He was horrified to see strange black smoke enveloping his house!

Moreover, thin wisps of gray death energy were emanating from the heads of his family members, whose faces appeared ghostly pale, resembling a group of zombies.

Mr. Yaleman let out a dismissive grunt, “I’ve opened your eyes, you see the Yin energy around you, while your family is filled with death energy and does not have long to live.”

Graham was so frightened that he collapsed into a chair, muttering, “What should I do about this?”

“Do not worry. I came today as part of our fateful encounter.”

Mr. Yaleman produced a peace talisman and handed it to a member of the Quinton family.

Graham watched as the talisman emitted a soft golden light that instantly diluted the death energy surrounding the clan member’s head.

With a wave of his hand, Mr. Yaleman made everything Graham had seen vanish, restoring the original scene.

“This… this…” Graham was drenched in sweat and bowed quickly, “Mr. Yaleman, you truly are a godly figure! Please save my family, the Quinton family is willing to pay any price.”

“Saving a life surpasses the worth of a seven-story pagoda. I am here today for that purpose.”

Mr. Yaleman stated, pulling out dozens of talismans to hand over. “Tell your family members to carry these with them, they’ll help ward off bad luck.”

Graham took them gratefully but hesitated, “May I inquire what reward you desire, Mr. Yaleman?”

Mr. Yaleman gestured dismissively, “Warding off bad luck is a merit in itself, I will not accept a penny. However, if charlatans come seeking to deceive you and demand exorbitant fees for magical tools, do not entertain them. At best, you’ll squander your resources at worst, it could lead to your family’s ruin. Keep this in mind.”

Adam interjected, unable to hold back, “Father, I’ve said it before Charlie is a fraud! He took our family’s money and now he’s vanished! We need to recover our money, or I’ll see him prosecuted for fraud, leaving him to rot in prison!”

Aurora frowned, contemplating, I can’t help but think that Mr. Yaleman seems more like a fraud himself.

Charlie may be somewhat questionable and lacks emotional intelligence, but he doesn’t seem all that bad. Most of the time, he gives off an air of mystery, like a bottomless lake.

“Be quiet.” Graham shot a glare at Adam, then turned respectfully to Mr. Yaleman and said, “Thank you for your guidance. I will be more vigilant in the future.”

Mr. Yaleman nodded knowingly and rose to leave.

As soon as he departed, Adam exclaimed, “Father, Mr. Yaleman is a renowned master of the Mystery Court. How can he be compared to a charlatan like Charlie? Thanks to Mr. Yaleman, all the issues our family faced have been resolved and he charged us nothing!”

“True, Mr. Yaleman charged nothing, but Charlie swindled our family for a fortune. He spent over 100 million just to bid on a worthless shell! It’s nothing short of a scam! How could you let him take so much money? If this gets out, people in Aurous Hill will think our Quinton family is foolish!”

Graham mulled over this in silence, yet his expression grew uncertain.

Mr. Yaleman’s reputation was indeed formidable and the things he had shown Graham were so vivid that he couldn’t deny them.

More importantly, Mr. Yaleman hadn’t asked for payment, whereas Charlie had lavished over 100 million during the auction…

The more he thought about it, the more he questioned Charlie’s authenticity.

At that moment, a housekeeper from the Quinton family knocked on the door. Upon receiving Graham’s permission, he entered.

“Graham, there’s a courier for you.”

With that, he handed over a paper box.

Graham frowned and opened the box to find a token resting quietly inside.

Inspecting it closely, he noticed it was merely a thin piece, the size of a matchbox, looped with a cheap red string, resembling wares sold by street vendors at tourist spots.

Graham glanced at the sender and saw the name Charlie inscribed on it.

Looking at the enclosed note, he found it contained just a few simple words: “The Stun Talisman, hang it in the main hall to dispel evil!”

Adam saw this and immediately erupted with anger, “This is outrageous, Father! Charlie thinks you’re a fool! This broken shell could very well be something he picked up from a street vendor! And he claims it can dispel evil?”

“On top of that, he swindled over 100 million from our family only to send us this? He couldn’t even bother to deliver it in person! If Charlie isn’t a fraud, then what is he?”

Adam seethed with anger, “Father, we need to go after Charlie now and reclaim our money! If he escapes, our loss will be unbearable!”

“Be quiet for a moment; let me think.” Graham rubbed his temples, examining the Stun Talisman. He truly couldn’t discern what was special about it.

After a moment of contemplation, Graham gathered the Quinton family and declared sternly, “This is a matter of life and death for our family. I will confront Charlie tomorrow to uncover the truth! You must all wear Mr. Yaleman’s talisman and not remove it recklessly!”

“Yes!”

“Father, I want to go too!” Adam clenched his teeth, “That guy named Wade has caused me so much trouble. Now that I’ve caught a lead, I intend to break his legs myself.”

“Just you? Do you think you can take him on?”

Graham frowned and said, “If you really want to go, then bring a few more bodyguards and figure out where Charlie will be tomorrow, just to be safe.”

After a brief pause, he added, “Remember, I’m not asking you to start trouble with Charlie. I’m just wary that you might act recklessly and get hurt again!”

Adam grinned and quickly replied, “Understood.”

Graham stated coldly, “Even though my Quinton family isn’t at the top of the hierarchy, I will not permit others to bully us. If anyone dares to do so, we will retaliate! I must uncover the truth behind this matter and should it turn out Charlie is indeed deceiving us, he won’t get off easily!”
